Kakheti, located in the heart of Georgia’s wine country, is a region renowned for its ancient winemaking traditions that date back over 8,000 years. Nestled between the Caucasus Mountains and the Alazani River Valley, Kakheti offers a stunning landscape of vineyards and rustic villages, where unique indigenous grape varieties like Saperavi and Rkatsiteli are cultivated. Known for its qvevri method—fermenting wine in large clay vessels buried underground—Kakheti produces rich, robust wines that capture the essence of Georgian culture and its deep-rooted passion for winemaking.
Imereti, a picturesque region in western Georgia, is celebrated for its distinctive winemaking traditions that blend ancient techniques with the region’s unique microclimates. Nestled along the lush hillsides and river valleys, Imereti is known for its vibrant white wines, often made from indigenous grape varieties like Tsolikouri and Krakhuna. Unlike Kakheti, Imeretian winemakers use a more delicate qvevri method, fermenting wines with fewer grape skins, which results in lighter, crisp wines with a fresh, aromatic profile. Imereti’s wines embody the region’s spirit of innovation and centuries-old craftsmanship, offering a refreshing taste of Georgia’s rich viticultural heritage.
Kartli, located in central Georgia, is a historic wine region known for producing both traditional and modern styles of wine. With a diverse landscape of rolling hills and fertile valleys, Kartli enjoys a temperate climate that is ideal for cultivating a wide range of grape varieties, including Chinuri, Tavkveri, and Shavkapito. The region is famed for its sparkling wines and delicate whites, often made using the ancient qvevri method, combined with European techniques to create wines that are both fresh and expressive. Kartli’s winemaking reflects the cultural crossroads of Georgia, blending centuries-old traditions with contemporary flair to produce elegant wines with a unique character.
